Oil and gas industry
Your expert for frictional connections
TAS SCHÄFER GmbH is a leading supplier of high-precision frictional connections and coupling systems for industrial applications. With decades of experience and technological expertise, the company develops customised solutions for various industries, including wind energy, mechanical engineering and heavy industry.
A reliable connection
In the oil and gas industry, robust and reliable connecting elements are essential. Shrink discs and shaft couplings from TAS Schäfer GmbH are therefore the optimal solution for extreme conditions.

Shrink discs in the oil and gas industry
Our shrink discs are frequently used in pump sealing systems. These high-precision components guarantee a tight and backlash-free connection that works reliably even under the harshest conditions. Thanks to their rust-free materials, our shrink discs are ideal for the rough and corrosive environments of the oil and gas industry.
Shaft couplings for gearboxes and engines
TAS Schäfer GmbH shaft couplings are used to connect gearboxes and engines. They offer high transmission performance and are optimised for the requirements of the oil and gas industry. Our products ensure efficient power transmission and minimise vibrations, which extends the service life of the connected machines.
Special application in hydroelectric power plants
Our stainless steel companion flanges are used primarily in hydroelectric power plants. Their ability to withstand extreme conditions also makes them ideally suited for the demanding environments found in the oil and gas industry.

Frequently asked questions
Which materials are used for the stainless products?
The standard materials used are 1.4571 (S1) and 1.4122 (S2). The selection of suitable stainless materials depends on various factors, including the specific requirements of the application, the operating conditions and the chemical stresses. Our engineers must carefully weigh these factors to find the optimal solution for your needs. Other materials can also be used by agreement.
What maintenance is required for shrink discs?
Shrink discs normally require little maintenance. However, it is recommended that the connection be checked regularly for tight fit and possible wear. In some cases, it is necessary to tighten the screws after a certain period of operation.
How does a locking assembly work?
A locking assembly, also known as an internal locking assembly or clamping set, works by pressing together several conical rings or sleeves when the screws of the internal locking assembly are tightened. This compression generates a high frictional force between the shaft and the hub, creating a force-locked connection. This connection is usually backlash-free and highly resilient.
