A reliable connection
In modern materials handling technology, reliable and low-maintenance connections are crucial for operational efficiency. Shrink discs, flange couplings and locking assemblies play a central role here. These mechanical connecting elements offer high performance and durability, which are essential in materials handling technology.

Shrink Discs: High torque transmission
Shrink discs enable a backlash-free and force-locked connection between shafts and hubs. These connections are particularly advantageous in materials handling applications where high torques and axial forces have to be transmitted. Thanks to their easy assembly and disassembly, shrink discs reduce maintenance costs and increase machine availability.
Flange couplings: Reliable connections
Flange couplings are ideal for connecting shafts in conveyor systems. They provide a robust and reliable connection that minimises vibrations and improves the overall performance of the system. The precise alignment of the shafts using flange couplings contributes to a longer service life of the connected components and ensures smooth operation.
Locking assemblies: Versatile applications
Locking assemblies offer a flexible and reliable way to connect shafts and hubs. In materials handling, they are often used to ensure even force distribution and minimise mechanical stress. Their easy handling and reusability make locking assemblies a cost-efficient solution for various applications.
Advantages of the connecting elements in materials handling
High load capacity
Shrink discs, flange couplings and locking assemblies are designed to withstand high mechanical loads and ensure a long service life.
Easy maintenance
These connecting elements are easy to assemble and disassemble, which reduces maintenance times and increases the efficiency of the conveyor systems.
Reduced operating costs
By reducing downtime and minimising wear, these connecting elements help to lower operating costs.
Optimised machine performance
The precise and backlash-free connection improves the overall performance of the conveyor systems and reduces vibrations and wear.
Frequently asked questions
What tolerances and surface finishes are recommended for the use of locking assemblies?
We recommend a tolerance of h8 as standard for the shaft. The recommended tolerance for the hub is H8. The recommended surface roughness for the shaft and hub is Rz10. However, depending on the type of locking assembly, other tolerances may be recommended. Exact details can be found in the catalogue. Deviations are possible by agreement.
What are the advantages of flange couplings?
High load capacity: flange couplings can transmit high torques.
Reliable connection: they provide a robust and stable connection between shafts.
Easy to assemble and disassemble: they are easy to assemble and disassemble using bolts or screws.
Adaptable: flexible versions can compensate for slight misalignments and vibrations.
How is the bending moment determined?
The bending moment is calculated by multiplying the applied force (F) by the lever arm (l), i.e. the distance from the line of action of the force to the point at which the moment is calculated: M = F * l. Where M is the bending moment, F is the applied force and l is the lever arm. In more complex structures, the distribution of forces and the various lever arms must be taken into account to determine the resulting bending moment.
